How proposals are assessed

Every application follows a structured multi-stage review designed to ensure independent, merit-based evaluation under MoHERST oversight.

Eligibility Review

Proposal checked against gazette eligibility criteria. Ineligible submissions notified within five working days with written rationale.

II

Technical Evaluation

Independent expert panel scores against published criteria: methodology, innovation potential, feasibility, and measurable national impact.

III

Board Recommendation

Shortlisted proposals presented to the NRIF Board for formal recommendation with written rationale.

IV

Award & Disbursal

Formal award notice issued via portal and registered email. Funds disbursed in tranches against agreed project milestones.

Eligibility varies by programme. Accredited Gambian research institutions, universities, and registered enterprises may apply. Each gazette specifies eligible entity types, residency requirements, and sector restrictions.
Review timelines differ by programme. Expected decision dates are published on each programme's gazette page. Real-time status updates are available in your applicant workspace dashboard once you submit.
Yes. Proposals auto-save to your workspace as drafts. You may return at any time before the gazette close date. Submitted proposals cannot be amended without a formal request to the secretariat.
